Job Details

The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate assists in maintaining high standards of cleanliness. This includes performing cleaning duties in assigned areas following schedules and specific methods to ensure a sanitary, orderly, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. EVS Associates help prevent cross-contamination, control bacteria and odors, and maintain aseptic conditions. They may also assist with moving, recycling, delivering supplies, and removing trash and biohazard waste.

Job Description

• Establishes and maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned areas by following departmental policies and procedures.
• Properly disposes of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA regulations, handling environmental contaminants like batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles. Keeps biohazard and loading areas safe and clean.
• Maintains equipment, including clean carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets, to uphold a professional appearance.
• Complies with PPE requirements to protect against exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, radiation, and other hazards.
• Follows hospital and departmental policies on hand hygiene.
• Performs carpet and hard surface flooring cleaning as per departmental procedures.
• Observes safety precautions when operating equipment and reports any mechanical or electrical issues.
• Uses wet floor signs to prevent slips and falls, ensuring safety for all.
• Communicates courteously with patients and visitors, demonstrating high standards of conduct.
• Assists with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and setup requests from supervisors or staff.
• Responds promptly to pages or phone calls.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
