Job summary

Rochelle Community Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Associate (EVS) for a Sunday-through-Thursday, 3rd shift, on-call role. The position involves cleaning and disinfecting hospital areas, following QA programs, and complying with Joint Commission standards. Requires high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills; prior EVS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Joint Commission, IDPH and OSHA regulations; pass required tests.

POSITION SUMMARY

An Environmental Services Associate will be responsible and accountable for cleaning and disinfecting every area of the hospital, (Dietary Dept. Kitchen, Mechanical rooms, IS phone rooms, and OR 1&2 excluded). Must follow and implement all Quality Assurance Programs and all RCH policies and procedures. Must participate in fulfilling Performance Improve Projects. Must comply with The Joint Commission standards, IDPH and OSHA regulations. Must pass all tests, including; quality assurance, infection control, patient confidentiality, competency and safety. Must be in good health and physical condition and be able to perform all duties as defined below. Must be of generally good disposition and be able to take direction from any supervisory personnel.

Education

• Preferred Level: High School Diploma or GED. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must have general knowledge of computer use for e-mail and testing.

Experience

• Must have good communication skills.
• Prior EVS experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Ability to withstand long periods on your feet.
• Must be physically able to climb ladder, stoop, squat, bend, lift and reach.
• Requires ability to withstand repetitive motions for long periods.
• Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluid, feces, bacteria, virus and communicable diseases, with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.
• The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
