Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Transform patient rooms into welcoming, safe spaces by preparing rooms for new admissions and restocking essential linen and paper supplies.
  • Operate Xenex UV disinfection equipment to eliminate pathogens and protect patient safety.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or environmental concerns to facilities for optimal conditions.
  • Maintain supply levels by monitoring inventory and communicating replenishment needs to supervisors.
  • Champion infection control and environmental standards by following policies and quality programs.
  • Protect patient privacy by complying with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to achieve shared objectives and maintain team relationships.
  • Participate in educational programs and professional development opportunities.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental success.

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Join our Environmental Services team and play a vital role in maintaining the health and safety of our patients and staff across Henry Ford Health System locations. Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Management Team, you'll ensure assigned work areas are impeccably clean and well-maintained, expertly manage equipment, and optimize the use of supplies to support our mission of exceptional patient care.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Transform patient rooms into welcoming, safe spaces by preparing rooms for new admissions and restocking essential linen and paper supplies.
  • Operate advanced ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment, including the Xenex Robot, to eliminate harmful pathogens and protect patient safety.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or environmental concerns in assigned areas, working collaboratively with the maintenance department to ensure optimal facility conditions.
  • Maintain supply levels by proactively monitoring inventory and communicating replenishment needs to supervisors, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Champion infection control and environmental standards by adhering to departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs that safeguard our healthcare environment.
  • Protect patient privacy by maintaining strict confidentiality of all patient and unit information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive workplace by partnering with colleagues across departments to achieve shared objectives and maintain strong team relationships.
  • Advance your professional growth by actively participating in educational programs, professional development workshops, and in-service training opportunities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Custodial experience preferred.

  • Must exhibit consistently high level of customer service and 'Patients First' sensibility.
