This position exists to perform daily cleaning and disinfection of examination rooms, restrooms, surgical procedure rooms, and treatment pits of the VHS teaching hospitals and Animal Cancer Center clinical spaces. This also includes routine annual in-depth cleaning of clinical spaces and performing floor maintenance (scrubbing, buffing, stripping, and waxing) throughout the hospitals. Our deep partnership with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences amplifies our impact, enabling us to boldly innovate and share knowledge widely. ## Job Duties:* Perform comprehensive custodial cleaning and disinfection of clinical, animal care, and public areas, including surfaces, equipment, furnishings, and fixtures, following strict sanitary and disease prevention protocols.* Clean and sanitize animal holding areas, animal bowls, equipment, cages, exam and treatment spaces, and related equipment to maintain safe, hygienic conditions and prevent cross-contamination.* Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and seasonal care (e.g., winter water/ice cleanup), as well as carpet and upholstery vacuuming.* Complete routine and deep cleaning tasks, including in-depth cleaning of clinical spaces, stripping and waxing floors, and shampooing carpets and upholstery.* Manage laundry operations by collecting, washing, drying, folding, and redistributing linens and other materials to appropriate units.* Stock and replenish custodial, animal care, and medical supplies.* Collect, sort, and dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with established procedures. ## Conditions of Employment:* Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires).* Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.* Shift Work: Works evenings and may work weekends for bug-out events.* Special Requirements/Other (please specify): Must be available to work holidays at supervisor’s discretion.* The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.## Minimum Qualifications:* High school diploma or GED.* Cleaning experience in a commercial environment.* Must be able to work the evening shift from 5pm - 1am. ## Preferred Qualifications:* Experience working in a custodial services capacity in a medical/veterinary environment.* Operating knowledge of and experience with custodial equipment including vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or buffing machines, and/or other related cleaning machinery.* Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products. ## Application Instructions:Interested applicants must submit a current resume.
