Job summary

The Environmental Aide at Trinity Health Chelsea maintains a clean and safe patient environment in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfection, waste disposal, linen handling, and reporting hazards to management.

This role requires basic English literacy, a high school diploma or GED preferred, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Full-time, day shift, with benefits and opportunities for growth within Trinity Health.

Qualifications

• Three months customer service or cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning to maintain patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, and offices.
• Clean and disinfect all surfaces; spot clean carpet and upholstery; clean spills.
• Change linen and make beds; operate vacuum equipment.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste; report needed repairs and unsafe conditions.
• Demonstrate a positive demeanor and uphold Code of Conduct and mission values.
• Ensure personal and coworker safety; report hazards to management.

Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain areas such as patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, offices, etc., the Environmental Aide's essential duties include:
• Cleaning all surfaces
• Disinfecting all surfaces
• Spot cleaning carpet and upholstery
• Cleaning up spills
• Changing linen and making beds
• Operating vacuum cleaning equipment
• Disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
• Reporting needed equipment repair and all unsafe situations
• Demonstrates a positive demeanor that contributes to a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork.
• Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
• Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
