Job summary

Trinity Health Chelsea is seeking an Environmental Aide to maintain a clean and safe hospital environment in accordance with regulatory standards and infection control policies. The role includes performing a variety of cleaning tasks, disinfecting surfaces, and ensuring a safe and collaborative workplace.

The position emphasizes compliance with hospital policies, participation in mandatory trainings, and contribution to a respectful, patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; ability to speak, read, and write English. Possesses basic math skills.
• Three months customer service or cleaning experience preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: Not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, offices, etc., including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.
• Spot clean carpet and upholstery; clean up spills.
• Change linens and make beds; operate vacuum cleaning equipment.
• Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste; report needed repairs and unsafe conditions.
• Demonstrate a positive demeanor; contribute to a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork.
• Adhere to Code of Conduct and Mission, Vision and Values; report safety hazards promptly.

Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain areas such as patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, offices, etc., the Environmental Aide's essential duties include:
• Cleaning all surfaces
• Disinfecting all surfaces
• Spot cleaning carpet and upholstery
• Cleaning up spills
• Changing linen and making beds
• Operating vacuum cleaning equipment
• Disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
• Reporting needed equipment repair and all unsafe situations
• Demonstrates a positive demeanor that contributes to a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork.
• Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
• Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

Required Skills And Abilities
