A Brief Overview
The Environmental Services Worker may work in any location on client premises. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the department may identify other responsibilities. These may vary among locations depending on business needs and client requirements.
What You Will Do
- Perform Environmental Services duties efficiently, completing all steps in the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
- Ensure a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing duties according to quality standards.
- Keep cleaning cart, equipment hopper room, and trash-room clean and organized; label all cleaning materials properly.
- Maintain positive verbal and non-verbal interactions with patients, families, visitors, and employees.
- Assist individuals as needed or find appropriate personnel to provide assistance.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and properly according to manufacturer standards.
- Clean offices, patient/resident rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas, and other necessary areas.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
- Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings.
- Empty trash and garbage containers; transport waste with sealed lids to outside compactor as needed.
- Replenish supplies and materials.
- Move furniture and set up tables and chairs.
- Report maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
- Follow all safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Report accidents and injuries promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
- Apply OSHA and local safety requirements to all work activities.
- Attend required training programs and complete all training within designated timelines.
- May transport and package regulated medical waste and chemo waste.
- May change cubicle and shower curtains.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Refer to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI), adhering to all related policies and training requirements.
