Job summary

Mesa County is seeking an Environmental Services Janitor to clean and disinfect offices, break rooms, conference rooms and patient care areas on-site in Grand Junction, CO. The role includes servicing hallways, elevators, restrooms and various facilities with attention to safety and documentation of duties.

Shifts may vary and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment is required. A high school diploma is preferred, and a background/fingerprint check is required for access to restricted areas; a

Responsibilities

• Emptying trash and restocking supplies.
• Dusting vents, ledges, and light fixtures.
• Disinfecting horizontal surfaces and countertops.
• Spot cleaning walls and interior windows.
• Damp wiping high touch areas.
• Cleaning toilets, sinks, and water fountains.
• Disinfecting handrails, benches and chairs.
• Disinfecting entrance doors and windows.
• Mopping and/or vacuuming floors; carpet spot cleaning.
• Follow safety procedures and attend on-site shifts as scheduled.

JOB SUMMARY

The Environmental Services Janitor is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting: Offices; Break Rooms; Conference Rooms; Public Areas; Hallways; Stairwells; Elevators; Patient Care Areas, Exam Rooms, Clinics; Ancillary Areas, and Court Rooms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Follow all safety and accident prevention practices. Follow proper procedure for handling wastes and recyclables. Oral and written communications must be clear and effective. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular attendance to perform the essential duties on site during regularly scheduled shift is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. All applicants must be able to pass a background check including a fingerprint check for CBI/FBI allowing access to restricted areas. Hold a valid driver license Licenses and Certifications: N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to dirt and dust for sustained periods of time. The employee is frequently exposed to loud noise. The employee will be working with cleaning chemicals and equipment. Position requires working within the Sheriff’s Office Detention facility and Work Release facilities. Work hours may vary at the discretion of the Supervisor.
