Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Michigan is seeking an Environmental Service Professional I for a part-time, day-shift role within our hospital facilities. This frontline position supports infection prevention by cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing patient environments according to standard procedures.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and up to 6 months of hospital housekeeping experience. We offer a supportive team, safety training, and opportunities to grow within the environmental

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of hospital environmental service/housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stand and walk most of the day; may bend, stretch, climb ladders, lift, pull or push as needed.
• Wear gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat per safety guidelines.
• Disinfect/clean assigned areas per Environmental Services procedures to control pathogens.
• Prepare patient rooms for new admissions with appropriate staging and setup.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies and equipment in neat, orderly condition.
• Remove trash, recycling and Confidential information; replace sharps containers as required.
• Transport furniture, equipment, clean linen and supplies between areas.
• Operate and maintain EVS tools and equipment safely and effectively.

A Day inthe Life

Environmental Services is front line infection prevention responsible for performing servicesin accordance withestablished organizational policies and procedures for providing a safe environment, achieved bydemonstratingthe principles of cleaning,disinfectionand quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff. This position will be trained toindependently and competently performgeneral cleans, and dismissal cleans.

• Standing and walking much of the day. May require bending, stretching, climbing ladders, lifting,pullingand pushing.
• Gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat must be worn as situationwarrantsand defined in the Safety Standard Act. Must follow all department,hospitaland regulatory agency guidelines.
• Disinfect/clean assigned areas as per the Environmental Services procedures developed to control the growth of microorganisms.
• Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by staging the room in an aesthetically pleasing way.
• Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies and equipment evidence by properly stocking and restocking environmental servicescartin a neat and orderly fashion.
• Remove trash/recycling/Confidential (HIPPIA) information andsoiledlinen from floors usingutilitycart. Replacesharps containerin patient rooms, procedure rooms, and soiled utility rooms.
• Transport furniture, equipment, cleanlinenand supplies.
• Demonstrates the ability tooperateand properlymaintainall EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
