Join us as an Environmental Scientist - Part Time at NANA

Support all aspects of environmental and planning programs for Kuna Engineering across Alaska. Responsibilities include planning and executing environmental projects such as work plan development, studies, investigations, permitting, reporting, field work, and regulatory compliance. You may also manage field programs and team logistics.

This role supports Kuna’s community and regional planning initiatives, including comprehensive plans, economic development, hazard mitigation, transportation, and energy plans that aid infrastructure development at various levels.

You will work with the Environmental Department Manager on business development and proposal writing, contributing to Kuna’s seller-doer methodology. The target utilization rate is 75% over the fiscal year.

Additional Details:

• Lead technical planning and execution of environmental and regional projects, including document authoring.
• Maintain knowledge of environmental regulations and their application.
• Lead field sampling and data collection projects, managing staff and subcontractors.
• Manage health and safety for field activities.
• Engage with clients periodically, focusing on permitting and environmental programs.
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies on environmental issues.
• Provide technical support for compliance and permitting projects.
• Research and explain relevant regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

• Degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, natural resource management, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work safely and maintain safety standards.
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, reliability, and accountability.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective team player with professional communication skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Indoor/outdoor weather conditions.
• Standard office noise level; site work may vary.
