Job summary

Creek Technologies is seeking an Environmental Scientist to provide on-site hazardous materials and hazardous waste management support at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The Environmental Scientist will identify, handle, store, document, and coordinate disposal in line with environmental, safety, and site requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of relevant experience with hazardous chemicals, SDS knowledge, labeling and storage practices, spill response planning, and inventory

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of professional experience in environmental science, hazardous materials management, hazardous waste management, chemical handling, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or working with hazardous chemicals and regulated materials.
  • Experience reading and interpreting Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Knowledge of proper chemical labeling, segregation, handling, and storage practices.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or implementing spill response procedures or spill plans.
  • Experience maintaining environmental, hazardous material, or hazardous waste documentation.
  • Ability to perform compliance inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in an on-site operational environment.

  • Identify, characterize, containerize, label, and properly store hazardous waste, including purge materials, unknown materials, and high-hazard materials.
  • Maintain accurate and current hazardous waste disposal records and supporting documentation.
  • Perform routine compliance inspections of hazardous material and hazardous waste storage areas.
  • Enter and maintain hazardous material and waste information within applicable databases and inventory management systems.
  • Receive, inspect, process, track, and coordinate delivery of chemical containers and compressed gas cylinders.
  • Maintain an accurate physical inventory of hazardous materials.
  • Review and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to determine appropriate handling, storage, labeling, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly labeled, segregated, and stored according to applicable requirements and established procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate site-specific spill response procedures and spill plans.
  • Support compliance with OSHA requirements and other applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Assist with determining appropriate chemical disposal methods based on environmental requirements, chemical characteristics, and applicable local regulations.
  • Maintain current records and documentation necessary to support environmental and safety compliance activities.

Position Summary

Creek Technologies is seeking an Environmental Scientist to provide on-site hazardous materials and hazardous waste management support. The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for the safe identification, handling, storage, documentation, and disposal coordination of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with applicable environmental, safety, and site-specific requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of relevant experience working with hazardous chemicals or regulated materials and a working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labeling and storage requirements, spill response planning, and hazardous material inventory management. This will be a temporary position.

  • Experience interpreting federal, state, or local environmental requirements governing chemical disposal, including requirements related to drain disposal or wastewater discharge.
  • Experience handling or managing compressed gas cylinders.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste characterization and disposal processes.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related technical or scientific discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant professional experience in hazardous materials, hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, or chemical handling may be considered in lieu of a degree.
