Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago, IL is seeking Engineering Interns to apply standard engineering techniques, assist lead engineers on diverse projects, and support Environmental Services initiatives across municipal, state and federal clients.

Responsibilities include data entry, documentation, preparing presentations, and participating in continuous improvement. Compensation ranges from $19.00–$30.00 per hour. Schedule: Full-time with occasional travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field from an accredited program is required.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus, community or volunteer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn, with ability to grow in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and PowerPoint presentations.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns and recommend them.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Support Environmental Services projects across municipal, state and federal clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
