Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Newton, MA. The role involves applying standard engineering techniques, assisting lead engineers on projects, and contributing to design updates across market-specific initiatives, with responsibilities varying by market segment.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred and involvement in campus or community activities is encouraged. The position is based in Newton, MA, with a full-time schedule and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Assist lead engineers with various project duties and other duties as assigned.
• Assist with standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns and research solutions to project concerns.
