Job summary

Pond & Company is seeking a Scientist II to conduct environmental fieldwork, perform regulatory analysis, and contribute to technical writing. You will guide entry-level staff, interact with clients and agencies, and help plan projects while deepening knowledge of environmental regulations.

The role emphasizes data collection, GIS/GPS integration, QA/QC, and mentoring as projects progress; travel may be required to field sites and client sites across the southeastern US.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years as environmental consultant or regulatory specialist.
• BS in an environmental discipline; MS preferred.
• Knowledge of wetlands, flora/fauna, and SE US ecosystems; task leadership.
• Proficient with GIS/GPS mapping (ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps).
• Willingness to travel and work in variable field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental studies including wetlands and stream delineations.
• Analyze data and contribute to technical reports and permit applications.
• Prepare project figures and maps from GIS/GPS data.
• Support proposal writing and scope development under senior staff.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Mentor Scientist I staff and participate in QA/QC of deliverables.
