Position Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to serve as an Assistant Project Manager in our NYC office. The role involves leading project and field activities, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and Remedial Action Workplans within the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate is motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to manage projects and mentor staff. Strong communication skills are essential.

Salary starts at $90,000/year.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in site investigation and remediation processes from proposal to final reports, including workplan preparation, fieldwork, and documentation.
  • Supervise junior staff in conducting site investigations to assess contamination across various media and site types, including public, residential, industrial, and commercial sites.
  • Oversee subcontractors during field activities such as soil boring, monitoring well installation, excavation, and sampling of soil, groundwater, sediment, vapor, and air.
  • Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527, supervise staff, and review peer assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, interpret laboratory data, and create supporting figures and logs.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • At least 6 years of environmental consulting experience.
  • Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments, including sampling and data interpretation.
  • Knowledge of NYSDEC regulations, including DER-10, Part 360, and Part 375.
  • OSHA 40-Hour Training and 8-hour refreshers.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record; willingness to travel and work in NYC, Westchester, and Long Island.
  • Effective team collaboration and independent work skills.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and pass drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional engineering license (preferred).
  • Knowledge of CEQR process (Chapter 12) (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-Hour construction training (preferred).
