Job summary

Whitman is seeking an Environmental Scientist in New Jersey to join our Environmental Division. The ideal candidate has 0–2 years of experience performing Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, and Site/Remedial Investigations, with familiarity to NJ requirements and OSHA HAZWOPER training.

The role involves soil and groundwater sampling, report preparation, and assisting with LSRP and NJDEP form completions. Health benefits and professional development are provided.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 0-2 years of experience conducting Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Working knowledge of ASTM Phase I Standard and NJDEP Site Remediation requirements.
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat; CAD experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and NJDEP Preliminary Assessment due diligence projects, including site inspections and report preparation.
• Conduct field assessments such as soil and groundwater sampling and report preparation.
• Assist in preparation of Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and NJDEP forms.

Familiarity with the NJ Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and NJDEP Field Sampling Procedures Manual, as well as experience conducting soil/groundwater sampling a must. Candidate must have 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and necessary 8-hour refresher courses.
