Job summary

Hudbay in Helvetia, AZ is seeking an Environmental Scientist to assist with field procedures, site plans for chemical and waste management, and reviews of contractor proposals to ensure SOP alignment. The role supports construction activities by ensuring compliance with environmental plans, permits, and standards across the Arizona operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, chemistry, geology, natural resources, or other science degree.
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
  • 2–3 years of experience in environmental-related field preferred.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro software a plus.
  • Ability to work in an effective manner, with limited supervision, with a diverse group of professionals in a collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels confidently and effectively within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Project team to ensure construction activities comply with environmental plans, policies, permits, etc.
  • Coordinates planning, project execution and data analyses for environmental scientific studies in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, composes correspondence and performs other administrative activities as necessary to meet compliance requirements.
  • Conducts field inspections related to construction or other engineering activities and coordinates with employees, contractors, consultants, and other teams.
  • Leads the installation, operation and maintenance activities associated with scientific equipment.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, chemistry, geology, natural resources, or other science degree.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro software a plus.
