Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to administer site HR for the Copper World project near Sahuarita, AZ. You will advise site management, ensure regulatory compliance, and execute HR policies to scale the workforce in a mining-focused operation.

The role requires 5+ years HR experience within mine, construction, or manufacturing contexts, with strong HRIS proficiency, dispute resolution, and data management skills.

Qualifications

This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson near Sahuarita, Arizona.
Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Director of HR, the Senior HR Generalist will administer all site-related Human Resources responsibilities at our Copper World project in Helvetia, Arizona. Serving as a key advisor to site management, this position is essential in ensuring compliance with government regulations, executing HR policies, managing employee relations, and scaling the site workforce. To be successful in this dynamic environment, the ideal candidate must have proven local site experience within the mining, construction, or manufacturing industries.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Administer all site-related HR responsibilities and operational needs, ensuring alignment with broader business initiatives.
  • Partner with the Director of HR to develop, review, localize, and roll out company policies, site-specific objectives, and strategic plans.
  • Liaise on recruiting and staffing processes to scale the workforce.
  • Maintain all site HR files and records in accordance with legal requirements, company policies, and business unit procedures.
  • Manage conflict resolution effectively by addressing site employee disputes, executing thorough investigations, and advising on disciplinary actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, maintaining the flexibility needed to support shifting operational needs in a fast-paced project environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience is required.
  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated understanding and experience in multiple HR disciplines within a mine, construction, or manufacturing site, or a similar operation.
  • Technical Proficiency: HRIS Experience
  • Compliance Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of current employment laws, regulations, and policies concerning equal employment opportunity (EEO) and general labor compliance.
  • Soft Skills: Strong cross-checking, auditing, and data management abilities, paired with exceptional dispute resolution and investigation skills to effectively manage site-level employee relations.
