The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:

Position:

Environmental Science & Technology Vocational Teacher

Job Description:

The Environmental Science & Technology Vocational Teacher will teach students the design and delivery of instruction in the standards of shop safety, environmental technology, natural resource management, water, and wastewater management as outlined in the Environmental Science & Technology Technical Education Frameworks.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Create a flexible Environmental Science program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
  2. Teach Environmental Science & Technology utilizing the course of study adopted by the School Committee and meeting the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Frameworks
  3. Develop standards based lesson plans and instructional materials in order to adapt the curriculum to the appropriate student
  4. Design lab and field activities that will allow students to be competitive in the workplace
  5. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
  6. Establish rapport with students to motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in environmental science in accordance with each student's ability
  7. Communicate with parents through parent conferences and other means to discuss student progress
  8. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional development that will include course or activities related to instruction
  9. All other responsibilities that are listed in the collective bargaining agreement between the Fall River Educators' Association and the Fall River School Committee
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Valid Massachusetts Chapter 74 educator's license in Environmental Science & Technology
  2. At least 3 years of teaching experience in related field
  3. Experience, knowledge, and skill regarding demonstration and maintenance of Aquaculture, Waste Water, and Water Management Systems
  4. At least 3 years working experience with students from diverse settings
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the teaching and administrative staff
  6. Demonstrated skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Office suite, Aspen X2, and other software applications
  7. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive work environment

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

Terms of Employment:

In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract.
