Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Risk Assessor Intern to join our team in 2027. You will assist in evaluating environmental data, support risk assessments, and aid in reporting and communications.

The hybrid role combines in-office collaboration with flexible remote work three days a week. The ideal candidate is pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field and has strong analytical and quantitative skills, with familiarity in risk assessment and environmental data analysis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field to complete in 2028.
• Familiarity with ecological or human health risk assessment, environmental fate and transport modeling, statistical data analysis, and sampling design is a plus.
• Experience or exposure to PFAS and environmental contamination topics is helpful.
• Proficient with spreadsheet and database software.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for an Environmental Risk Assessor Intern to join our team in 2027! At GHD, our Intern Risk Assessors are typically engaged in projects that apply risk assessment and risk management strategies to support contaminated site decision-making under Federal, state, and international site cleanup programs. This includes supporting and implementing site characterization and remedial action projects that involve efforts to identify and control potentially unacceptable human and ecological exposures to chemicals in the environment.

In this role you will assist in the evaluation of large environmental datasets for a wide variety of traditional, as well as emerging (e.g., PFAS), or proprietary chemicals, observe how to interpret site characterization data, perform statistical and spatial data analysis, support contaminant fate/transport and exposure modeling to quantitatively evaluate human health and/or ecological risks, assist with the preparation of reports and other written communications.

Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
• Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
• Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of straightforward samples and undertake testing as directed and in accordance with defined processes and requirements to support regulatory compliance activity.

What you'll bring to the team

• Planned completion of Master or Bachelor degree in related field of Science, e.g., Biology, Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field in 2028
• Knowledge or experience in ecological or human health risk assessment, environmental fate and transport modeling, statistical data analysis and sampling design, emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS), natural resource damages assessment is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with spreadsheet and database software
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills required

Salary Range

Salary Range: $20.00 - $21.00 based on experience and location.
