Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis is seeking a senior leader to guide the Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) Group. You will shape strategy, ensure quality, and deliver environmental studies for global regulatory submissions, while mentoring scientists across the portfolio.

You will oversee CRO partners to deliver GLP-compliant reports and drive PiE science through cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, regulatory and R&D teams, safeguarding people and ecosystems.

Qualifications

• PhD in environmental or natural sciences, or related field.
• 15 years experience in chemical environmental risk assessment in pharma/pesticide industry or as consultant.
• Research in environmental toxicology and/or environmental fate.
• Experience with OECD environmental studies and GLPs.
• Strong scientific communication via publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ERA Group by setting scientific direction and developing staff.
• Own portfolio ERA testing, prioritisation, study governance and submission-ready delivery.
• Direct execution of environmental studies with CROs to ensure GLP compliance.
• Advance ERA science through cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
• Communicate ERA strategy, risks and regulatory implications to leadership and teams.
• Advise manufacturing on discharge limits and mitigation strategies.
• Lead PiE governance with cross-functional partners to address developments.
• Represent Lilly externally to influence regulatory expectations.
