Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks a Remedial Project Manager (RPM) to oversee environmental site cleanup under MCP/CERCLA. You will review plans, manage investigations, and coordinate with EPA, DoD, and responsible parties.

Qualifications

• Five years of environmental engineering experience or equivalent, with three years in a professional capacity.
• Experience overseeing investigations, risk assessments, remedy design, cleanup, and long-term monitoring.
• Experience applying CERCLA, MCP, and ARARs during site work.
• Ability to collaborate with legal, regulatory, technical and financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as RPM for assigned CERCLA/formerly used defense sites, representing MassDEP in investigations and cleanup.
• Review technical plans, data, QA/QC documents to ensure compliance with CERCLA and MCP.
• Oversee site investigations, risk assessments, feasibility studies, and remedy selections.
• Provide field oversight of remedial activities and communicate findings in reports and meetings.
• Lead collaboration with MassDEP staff, EPA, DoD, responsible parties, and consultants.
• Identify ARARs and support development of legal agreements and institutional controls.
• Manage contractors, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Support procurement for CERCLA projects and engage federal partners as needed.
• Mentor lower-level staff and maintain ongoing regulatory expertise.
