Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Project Environmental Professional to support decommissioning and remediation projects for a large oil/gas client in Colorado. You will contribute to regulatory compliance, lead field activities, and coordinate with project teams to ensure safe, efficient progress.

This role requires a geology/environmental/engineering background, 4–7+ years of experience, and the ability to work both in the field and office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering; Master's a plus.
  • 4–7+ years of related environmental experience.
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling and drilling oversight.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to pass background, MVR, and drug screening.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (current 8-hour refresher).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to perform outdoor field work, lift up to 50 lbs., and travel locally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to project management teams moving oil and gas sites through decommissioning and remediation toward regulatory closure.
  • Prepare and manage regulatory reporting deliverables, including Colorado ECMC Form 27 Site Investigation and Remediation Workplans.
  • Manage multiple project tasks; serve as field lead on select projects and mentor technicians and staff.
  • Lead and support environmental field activities, including soil and groundwater sampling, subsurface investigations, and data collection.
  • Oversee drilling subcontractors, maintain boring logs, and support monitoring well design/installation.
  • Apply regulatory standards and technical guidance to project work.
  • Track project hours and manage time to meet scope, schedule and budget.
