Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Environmental Professional (Scientist, Geologist, Engineer) to support decommissioning, remediation and regulatory compliance for a large oil/gas client in Colorado. The role combines field work with office tasks and requires strong regulatory understanding and meticulous data handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering or related field; master's preferred.
• 4–7+ years of environmental experience.
• Experience with soil and groundwater sampling and drilling oversight.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background, MVR, and drug screening.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (current 8-hour refresher).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to perform outdoor field work, lift up to 50 lbs., travel locally with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to project management teams through decommissioning and remediation process toward regulatory closure.
• Prepare and manage regulatory reporting deliverables (e.g., Colorado ECMC Form 27) ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Lead field activities including soil and groundwater sampling and subsurface investigations.
• Oversee drilling subcontractors and maintain logs; support well design and installation.
• Track hours and manage schedule/budget; communicate with project managers on challenges.
• Interface with clients to provide project updates and support needs.
• Assist with cost proposal development and scope definition.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
• Follow safety programs and OSHA regulations; participate in safety training.
