Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s Orange, CA office is seeking upcoming graduates to join our Environmental Planning team in 2027. This is an on-site, entry-level opportunity to work on CEQA/NEPA documents and environmental planning for infill and land development projects.

You will support project managers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and gain exposure to sustainability, climate action planning, and related tools like ENVISION and LEED. Summer 2027 degree completion required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science/Sustainability/Management, or related major.
  • Degree must be completed by Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare CEQA/NEPA documents, environmental impact reports, and related declarations.
  • Assist with Specific Plans, Master Plans, and environmental/planning policy documents for infill and land development projects.
  • Support project managers and collaborate with team members across disciplines.
  • Develop familiarity with CEQA/NEPA, sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon-Safe.
  • Contribute to environmental clearance for local comprehensive plans and land use planning.

Education

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Orange, California (CA)office is seeking upcoming graduates to join our Environmental Planning team in 2027!This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Help prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations
  • Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of a full range of infill and/or land development related projects
  • Support various project managers and collaborating with team members.
  • Will likely gain expertise in: CEQA/NEPA, sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon-Safe
  • Environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans/local land use planning
  • Working with infrastructure projects from across industries such as transportation, transit, land planning, aviation
Qualifications
  • A Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program by Summer of 2027 in these majors:
    • City and Regional Planning
    • Urban Planning
    • Environmental Science/Sustainability/Management
    • Or Other Related Major
