Job summary

McCormick Taylor, based in Pennsylvania, seeks an Environmental Planner II to support NEPA studies for transportation projects. Eligible locations include Harrisburg or Pittsburgh, with a hybrid remote/office setup.

Ideal candidates will handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and contribute to public involvement, field work, and environmental documentation while ensuring compliance with NEPA and related environmental laws.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience in NEPA documentation for transportation projects and knowledge of NEPA umbrella environmental laws (Section 4(f), 106, 6(f), Endangered Species Act)
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, planning, policy, or related field
• Experience with PennDOT projects and the CE Expert System; PA Turnpike experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional document writing and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
• Must possess a valid driver’s license to travel to project locations and meetings

Responsibilities

• Work with senior NEPA specialists and an interdisciplinary team to complete environmental studies for transportation projects for PennDOT and the PA Turnpike Commission
• Assist with environmental studies and draft environmental documentation for NEPA, Section 4(f), and other requirements
• Support public involvement activities

• Assist with environmental field work as needed

Position Summary

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for an Environmental Planner II in our National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Services Group in either Harrisburg, PA or Pittsburgh, PA. This position will require an understanding of NEPA regulations and transportation project delivery. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment. We are seeking an individual who can handle being involved in multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in hybrid remote/office environment. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required.
