Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation seeks an Environmental Planner 2 to lead environmental review efforts for transportation projects that shape communities. Telework may be possible after probation, with a starting salary of $60,538.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1 or five years of progressive environmental planning experience
• Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences with two years of progressive environmental planning experience
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Documents: Coordinate preparation and review of categorical exclusions, technical reports, and mitigation plans for projects of varying complexity
• Impact Analysis: Evaluate effects of transportation projects on natural, cultural, recreational, and community resources
• Public Engagement: Participate in meetings, hearings, and displays to support public involvement activities
• Agency Collaboration: Work with resource agencies and the public to strengthen partnerships and support compliance
• Training Development: Develop and deliver environmental training for district design, construction, and maintenance staff
