Job summary

Tallgrass Energy is seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager to join our Houston-based Capital Projects Team. The role reports to the Director of Environmental Permitting and leads complex permitting strategies for processing facilities, pipelines, and terminals.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in environmental permitting, 5–10 years in managing permitting resources, and strong regulatory knowledge across federal, state, and tribal agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related fields strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of environmental permitting and compliance experience with increasing responsibility.
• 5–10 years of direct management experience of permitting resources in project execution.
• Experience in energy transportation (oil, gas, or electrical transmission).
• Experience with state, federal, tribal environmental agencies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental permitting for design and construction of processing facilities, pipelines, terminals, and related infrastructure.
• Manage internal resources and external consultants to meet regulatory requirements (FERC, USACE, USFWS, SHPO, etc.).
• Develop and execute complex permitting strategies aligning stakeholders with project goals and budgets.
• Communicate permitting details to project teams and regulatory bodies; address constructability concerns.
• Collaborate with Commercial and Government Affairs to anticipate permits and mitigate obstacles.
