Job summary

BEM Systems, LLC (BEM) is seeking a Land Use Permitting Specialist in the Madison, NJ area. The role focuses on navigating NJDEP and USACE permitting processes, preparing technical reports and permit applications, and managing project budgets and schedules in a hybrid work setting with some required office time and site visits.

The candidate should have solid experience with NJDEP rules, NEPA/EO215 processes, and related regulations, plus strong communication and detail orientation to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Urban Planning, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources Management, or related field.
• 7-12 years of experience in reports, regulatory analysis, permit applications, and environmental assessments.
• Experience leading wetlands delineations or T&E habitat assessments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare land use permit applications, natural resource studies, development planning studies, and environmental assessments.
• Manage budgets, invoices, schedules, and client expectations for project delivery.
• Lead agency meetings and coordinate with sub-consultants and support staff.
