Job description

Join to apply for the Environmental Organizer role at Student PIRGs.

Position Overview

As a Campus Organizer, you will lead efforts to build a sustainable and environmentally conscious future by engaging students on college campuses. Your responsibilities will include recruiting students, helping them develop strategic campaigns on issues like plastic waste reduction, wildlife protection, and clean energy, and building coalitions with various organizations. You will also train students to become effective social change leaders and help establish a strong, student-led organization on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Recruit and motivate students to participate in activism and campaigns.
  2. Assist students in planning and executing campaigns on environmental issues.
  3. Develop coalitions with student organizations and community groups.
  4. Train students in grassroots organizing, lobbying, and media outreach.
  5. Build and maintain a sustainable, student-funded organization on campus.
  6. Manage a citizen outreach office during the summer, leading canvassers and fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental or public interest issues and leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and outside of comfort zones.
  • Passion for social change and perseverance in incremental progress.
Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary ranges from $37,000 to $43,347, depending on location, education, and experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid sick leave, vacation, commuter benefits, potential student loan assistance, and opportunities for advancement and training.

Locations

Positions are available at college campuses across multiple states including Arizona, California, Connecticut, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
