Job summary

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers, invites an Environmental or Civil Engineer to join our multidisciplinary AMA team in the Mechanicsburg area. You will contribute to planning, design, and construction administration across water, mining, and site assessment programs.

The role reports to the Mechanicsburg, PA office on a hybrid schedule, with opportunities to work across PA, MD, VA and WV, collaborating with senior staff and advancing professional growth.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
  • 1-4 years of relative experience or willingness to learn site/civil design including site grading, stormwater analysis, erosion/sediment control measures and earthworks estimation.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • A strong work ethic with excellent organizational, communication, computer and technical writing skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills.
  • Willingness to travel out of state.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design tasks with guidance from project engineers and project managers on a diverse portfolio of projects through applications of relevant design criteria, and standards and processes of both public and private clients.
  • Assist with a variety of field assignments including site assessment, soil sampling, surface water and groundwater sampling, and system Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
  • Perform field oversight of subcontractors.
  • Prepare technical reports and evaluate site data for proposed projects as well as closure of existing facilities.
  • Establish strong, productive internal collaborative relationships with senior-level staff.
  • Participate in Kleinfelder’s safety culture.
  • Continuously interact and learn from technical design staff.

As an Environmental or Civil Engineer,you will work with our combined team performing technical evaluations, planning, design, and construction administration to support multiple clients and programs across the water, state, federal and private market space. The position will report to the Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA office on a hybrid schedule, but the individual will work across the entire AMA footprint (Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certificate.
