Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. in Radford, Virginia, seeks an Environmental Manager to lead the site’s environmental program and a team of engineers.

You will report to the Safety, Health, & Environmental Director and coordinate with regulators, communities, and cross-functional teams to maintain compliance and drive improvements. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and eight years of related experience, strong leadership, and ISO 14001 regulatory expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry with eight years of related experience.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication.
• Ability to work with industry software/databases.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and Local environmental regulations.
• ISO 14001:2015 EMS auditing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of five Environmental Engineers across air, waste, and water compliance.
• Direct integration between the site and governing agencies.
• Liaise with the community on environmental compliance.
• Stay ahead of regulatory requirements and update leadership timely.
• Ensure all compliance reports are prepared and approved ahead of schedule.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to solve compliance issues.
• Serve as the environmental expert during MOD projects.
• Manage and prepare the environmental budget.
