Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Environmental Manager to support the Port Hudson Mill in Zachary, Louisiana. You will partner with operations to proactively manage environmental risk, ensure compliance excellence, and drive continuous improvement across environmental programs and management systems.

You will lead the EMS, manage air permitting, wastewater, stormwater, and waste programs, and collaborate with regulatory agencies while coaching leaders to strengthen environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering.
• Experience supervising teams in industrial settings.
• Experience interpreting and enforcing environmental regulations, permits, and compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting environmental audits, risk assessments, or corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for environmental programs at Port Hudson Mill, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and reliability to identify environmental risks and implement compliant solutions.
• Lead air permitting, wastewater, stormwater, waste and chemical reporting, and landfill management activities.
• Serve as primary environmental liaison with regulatory agencies for negotiations, inspections, and reporting.
• Lead EMS implementation and management to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
• Monitor performance indicators and compliance obligations, using data analysis and root-cause problem solving.
• Guide environmental considerations in capital projects and process improvements.
• Develop and coach mill leaders to strengthen environmental stewardship.
• Lead risk assessments, audits, and self-assessments to improve program effectiveness.
• Maintain understanding of pulping, recovery, utilities, wastewater treatment, and emissions control.
