Qualificações

• Admitted Attorney with environmental law specialization.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant legal experience.

About the Role

Our client, a leading environmental consulting firm with a strong presence in Welkom , Free State, is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Environmental Law Consultant . This role is pivotal in providing expert legal advice and strategic guidance on environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, and sustainability initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with clients across various industries, assisting them in navigating complex environmental legislation and ensuring adherence to legal frameworks. We are looking for an individual with a deep understanding of South African environmental law, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and its associated regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on environmental legislation, policies, and regulations.
• Conduct legal reviews of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Advise clients on compliance requirements related to pollution control, waste management, and water use.
• Assist clients in obtaining environmental permits and licenses.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a specialization or significant experience in Environmental Law.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in consulting or in-house.
• Thorough understanding of South African environmental legislation, including NEMA, EIA Regulations, and water law.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply complex legal provisions.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage project deadlines effectively.
• Experience with environmental permitting and licensing processes is essential.
• Familiarity with the mining and agricultural sectors prevalent in the Welkom area is an advantage.
