Job summary

Eurofins Environment Testing in Oregon is seeking a Scientist I to join our Drinking Water and Wastewater team. The role involves preparing and analyzing environmental samples using established scientific and EPA-approved analytical techniques, while maintaining QA and documenting activities per SOPs and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a BS/BA in chemistry or a related field (or 3 years of lab experience), has strong English communication, and is committed to safety.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in chemistry or related field is required or 3 years lab experience substituted for a degree.
• Two or more years of bench top laboratory experience is advantageous.
• Minimum two weeks of training in microbiological analysis of drinking water or 80 hours on the job training.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Professional English reading, writing and speaking abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and analyze microbiology samples including potable water, non-potable water and soil.
• Set up and analyze inorganic potable and non-potable water samples.
• Understand and interpret Oregon Health Authority rules and regulations.
• Assist clients in person, by email, and over the phone.
• Receive, log, and process client samples.
• Maintain the laboratory in clean and excellent working order.
• Maintain laboratory supply inventory and perform QC checks.
• Prepare Certificates of Analysis and reagents/media for testing.
• Perform monthly environmental monitoring and document in logbooks.
• Assist manager with tasks and analyze samples on weekends when required.
