The City of New York’s Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Associate Chemist to perform and supervise chemical analyses of wastewater, solids, and related samples in the BWT laboratories. The role requires careful analytical work, routine QC, and adherence to safety standards in a large municipal lab.

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree with chemistry credits, NYS CLT license, and at least two years of full-time lab experience; supervision duties may apply for assignment

Qualifikationen

• Baccalaureate degree with 16 semester chemistry credits and 8 semester credits in related areas.
• Valid NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license must be maintained for duration of employment.
• At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience performing chemical or physical analyses for assignment II.

Aufgaben

• Process samples for analysis.
• Prepare and standardize solutions and reagents; follow QC procedures.
• Prepare reports on results of analysis.
• Test, calibrate and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Review lab results performed by others.
• Assist in safety, inventory control and procurement of supplies.
• Train staff and provide technical guidance on methodologies.
• May supervise staff conducting analyses and quality control.
