The Louisiana Bucket Brigade is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to advance its mission at LABB. The role focuses on elevating awareness of industrial pollution, environmental justice, and community leadership through strategic outreach and internal coordination.

Responsibilities include crafting a communications plan, coordinating earned and digital media, supervising volunteers, and ensuring consistent messaging across departments.

Qualifikationen

• Ten years of communications experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly.
• Strong editing and proofreading skills with close attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with community members and external partners.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, sound judgment, and discretion.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial justice.
• Driver’s license.
• The selected candidate will provide at least three professional references.

Aufgaben

• Creates communications plan in collaboration with communications staff (Director and Social Media Coordinator). Plan will include a new element of news production.
• Assures consistency of communication in program and development department.
• Maintains organizational communications calendar, including press events, press statements, newsletters, mailings, and other relevant happenings.
• Engages and supervises volunteers to help with communications.
• Stays abreast of breaking media trends to keep LABB on the cutting edge.
• Works with Director, staff, and community partners to identify and capitalize on media opportunities.
• Takes initiative to identify how LABB’s work dovetails with current events, and helps to conceptualize actions – press conferences, video releases, pubic statements – to make the most of the moment.
• Handles all logistics for media events – including materials production, site selection, tech, etc
• Assists community partners with letters and opinion pieces
• Develops and maintains relationships with local, state, and national media contacts, including staff reporters and freelancers.
• Drafts and distributes press releases, media advisories, talking points, statements, and other media materials.
• Coordinates media requests and prepares staff and community members for interviews.
• Monitors and keeps track of organizational news coverage
• Ensures that communications align with LABB’s Values Statement
