Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation invites students to apply for Fall 2027 Intern/Co-op in HES&S Environmental at Findlay, OH. The role supports environmental policy development, program administration, and compliance initiatives within refining and midstream operations.

You will work with professionals to interpret standards, develop procedures, and participate in training programs while gaining hands-on experience in environmental stewardship and regulatory actions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the internship.
• Must be able to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must have a valid driver's license for work-related travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods and procedures to implement and assure conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; monitor compliance with these policies in assigned areas and direct related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
• Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment as required.
• Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; provide recommendations with appropriate personnel and communicate to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards; develop/assist with regulatory impact assessment; submit required reports; obtain permits as required.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; conduct training sessions.
