Job summary

NC Office of State Human Resources, through the Division of Temporary Solutions, seeks an Environmental Specialist II to perform inspections of erosion and sediment control, mining, stormwater, and dam safety programs in Forsyth County. The role supports DEMLR programs and provides information to internal and media inquiries.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences and two years of related experience; knowledge of relevant laws and regulations; and certification considerations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to erosion/sediment control, mining, stormwater, or dam safety permitting/compliance.
• Experience reviewing or designing permit applications and plans for evaluation or compliance.
• Experience communicating information to clients, officials, or the public in writing or verbally.
• Experience performing inspections/audits of project sites or facilities in erosion/sediment control, mining, stormwater or dam safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections for gas pipeline sites and large erosion control plan sites in WSRO.
• Provide information for media and internal information requests.
• Inspect across all four DEMLR programs when not on pipeline/erosion sites.
