Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation offers an environmental internship program designed to give high-performing students meaningful hands-on experience. Interns collaborate with experienced professionals across refining, midstream logistics, and natural gas services, gaining exposure to safety and environmental stewardship.

Candidates must pursue a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science and be available to work on site 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; monitor compliance with policies.
• Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment as required.
• Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; provide recommendations to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory actions, and international standards; assist with regulatory impact assessment; obtain permits as required.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; conduct appropriate training sessions.
