Job summary

Louisville Metro Government seeks a Supervisor to lead environmental health enforcement activities and inspections for public and private facilities to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and sanitary regulations.

This role reports with limited supervision, coordinates staff, conducts field visits, and represents the department in public and professional settings as needed. A Kentucky certification and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Community Health, Environmental Health Science or related field.
• Three (3) years of environmental health or sanitary inspections or enforcement experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates staff; handles employee concerns and performance reviews.
• Coordinates work, assigns schedules, inspects progress, and provides guidance.
• Plans, develops, and implements policies, procedures, and programs.
• Supervises inspections and investigations to enforce health and sanitary laws.
• Assigns inspections based on complaints and reviews daily reports.
• Conducts field visits for investigations and training of subordinates.
• Discusses inspections with the public and business officials to resolve issues.
• Mediates settlements when voluntary compliance is not achieved.
• Represents the department to community groups and other agencies; testifies when needed.
• Prepares correspondence, submits activity reports, and maintains records.
• Supports multiple locations, including non-Metro sites.
