Job summary

City of St. Louis seeks an Environmental Health Supervisor (Community Sanitation) to lead the Community Sanitation section within the Environmental Health Bureau. The role includes staff supervision, staffing decisions, and coordinating with ICS as needed.

The incumbent will ensure regulatory compliance and drive program performance while supporting emergency response activities. The position requires a Public Health or related degree (or equivalent experience), a valid driver's license, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or Physical Science; OR four years of related experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Certification: pass the NEHA exam and become REHS/RS after 12 months.
• Preference for prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and set work priorities to meet bureau goals.
• Plan, organize, train, and direct community sanitation staff.
• Ensure compliance with City rules via fines or court procedures.
• Process CSB complaints and approve payroll documents.
• Develop performance evaluation standards and assess staff.
• Conduct site inspections and coordinate with managers to meet department goals.
• Attend IC duties when assigned and support emergency responses.
