Job summary

Montgomery County (MD) is seeking an Environmental Compliance Supervisor to lead the Environmental Health Inspection Program within the Office of Licensure and Regulatory Services, Public Health Services. The role ensures safety through education and regulatory compliance for community well-being.

The supervisor will oversee daily operations, assign inspections, enforce regulations, and guide staff, including continued training and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of environmental health investigatory/enforcement experience after registration.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Assign inspections and investigations of Environmental Health Specialists and review their work for effectiveness.
• Ensure inspections of food service facilities, public pools, group homes, private schools, camps, and bodyworks establishments meet regulations.
• Assist in writing new regulations and updating processes, policies, and documents.
• Supervise ten Environmental Health Specialists; conduct performance planning and evaluations.
• Obtain and maintain Local Standardization Officer certification and standardize Environmental Health Specialists.
• Provide training; become licensed in pest control and enforce vector control laws.
• Conduct regular training and meetings on food service topics for EH businesses and staff.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
