About the Role
The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager is responsible for leading and managing EHSS programs across assigned facilities and operations to help protect our employees, contractors, visitors, company assets, and business operations.
This role combines hands-on operational leadership with strategic program ownership across workplace safety, occupational health, environmental compliance, physical security, emergency preparedness, risk management, and incident prevention.
As a key EHSS leader, you'll partner closely with Operations, Human Resources, Maintenance, Engineering, and site leadership to identify risks, solve problems, strengthen compliance, and build a proactive culture of safety and accountability.

What You'll Do
EHSS Leadership & Strategy
- Lead EHSS programs, priorities, and initiatives across assigned locations while maintaining alignment with corporate standards.
- Serve as a trusted EHSS partner and subject matter expert to site and operational leadership.
- Build strong relationships across locations and adapt your leadership approach to different teams, operations, and site cultures.
- Champion a proactive safety culture focused on employee engagement, accountability, hazard recognition, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Identify EHSS resource needs and support planning for personnel, equipment, technology, training, and services.
- Partner with EHSS leadership on operating and capital expenditures that support compliance, risk reduction, security, employee health and safety, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Occupational Health
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve workplace safety and occupational health programs.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify practical solutions to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, exposures, and operational hazards.
- Lead investigations involving injuries, illnesses, near misses, and other workplace incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and completed.
- Lead and oversee required EHSS training for employees, contractors, and leaders.
- Support contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with company expectations and applicable requirements.
Regulatory & Environmental Compliance
- Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.
- Lead and support regulatory inspections, audits, and interactions with external agencies.
- Monitor regulatory changes and translate requirements into practical programs, processes, and procedures.
- Oversee environmental compliance activities, including waste management, hazardous materials, spill prevention, environmental reporting, permits, and required documentation.
Security & Asset Protection
- Lead site security programs, including access control, visitor management, CCTV, investigations, and workplace violence prevention.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents and identify corrective actions to reduce future risk.
- Partner with Operations and Human Resources to address employee, contractor, visitor, and facility security concerns.
- Help ensure security practices appropriately protect employees, company assets, and business operations.
Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Response
- Lead emergency preparedness efforts, drills, response planning, and crisis management activities.
- Coordinate incident and emergency response with internal teams and external emergency response agencies.
- Help ensure assigned locations maintain appropriate emergency response readiness.
- Lead, coach, and develop EHSS team members.
- Provide performance feedback, mentoring, training, and professional development.
- Develop staffing plans, schedules, and resource strategies that support operational needs and EHSS coverage.
- Build strong partnerships with operational leaders and help strengthen EHSS capabilities throughout the organization.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Track and evaluate key EHSS performance indicators, including TRIR, DART, workers' compensation costs, security incidents, training completion, audit performance, and corrective action closure.
- Analyze trends, incidents, inspections, audits, and leading indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and execute action plans that reduce risk and improve EHSS performance.
- Use data to help leaders understand risks, priorities, and opportunities across assigned locations.
What We're Looking For
We're open to candidates who have already held an EHSS Manager position as well as experienced Supervisors or Senior Supervisors who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
Successful candidates will bring:
- 5-7 years of progressive Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security experience, preferably within manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse, or another fast-paced operational environment.
- Approximately 3+ years of leadership experience supervising people, programs, projects, or cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with workplace safety and security programs, incident response, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, DOT, state, local, and other relevant EHSS requirements.
- The ability to interpret regulations and turn them into practical, sustainable workplace processes.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to earn trust and influence employees and leaders at different levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- The ability to manage multiple locations, priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- A valid driver's license.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Certifications
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, OHST, CHMM, CPP, PSP, or other relevant credentials are preferred but not required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position requires regular presence within office, warehouse, manufacturing, and operational environments and may involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and conducting facility inspections.
The role may involve exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, moving equipment, powered industrial vehicles, and other normal operational hazards. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and safely access operational areas.
The position may occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.
Flexibility is required to respond to after-hours incidents, emergencies, investigations, regulatory inspections, and other business needs as necessary.
