Job Summary:
- Oversees and manages all aspects of environmental, safety, and compliance programs, partnering with the health services department. Responsibilities include permitting, training, inspections, incident investigations, reports, workers' compensation claims, recordkeeping, and documentation control.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all safety-related programs.
- Reports to the EHS Manager and collaborates with the utilities manager and director of engineering to ensure compliance.
- Ensures the assistant EHS manager implements safety programs and activities, and educates the plant workforce on EHS responsibilities and training, with support from EHS coordinators.
- Reports safety metrics to the executive team weekly and monthly.
- Manages workplace risk analysis, evaluates safety programs and processes, and implements improvements to enhance the plant safety culture.
- Develops positive working relationships with operations and other departments to foster a safety-conscious environment.
- Performs compliance audits as required.
- Maintains knowledge of necessary permits for the facility.
- Participates in meetings with insurance brokers and provides relevant information.
- Manages the monthly safety budget.
- Maintains knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:

- Minimum high school diploma; associates or higher degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience working in a safety department, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
