Job summary

The EH&S Manager (Detroit Thermal Systems) provides technical environmental safety and health support to production and corporate personnel. Develops corporate environmental safety and health programs and coordinates training programs.

The EH&S Manager acts as the primary advisor for all levels of the organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, updating safety metrics, and leading training initiatives across the plant and corporate teams.

Qualifications

• Six years’ experience performing in a Safety Engineer / Manager role in a related assembly environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience and a solid understanding of federal, state and local safety regulations and industry standards, including ANSI B 11.19, RIA 15.06, OSHA 1910, OSHA 1910.147, NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.132, NEC Article 110.16.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an advance level.
• Possess a strong work ethic with integrity and maturity to gain confidence of senior leaders.

Monitors environmental safety and health regulations and provides technical support to plant and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental safety and health regulations. The EH&S Manager will serve as primary environmental health and safety advisor for all levels of the organization.

• Serves as member of the Executive Environmental Health & Safety committee.
• Leads implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
• Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for environmental safety and health considerations.
• Understands federal and state environmental safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
• Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable environmental safety and health regulations.
• Advises manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured.
• Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state environmental safety and health regulations.
• Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims.
• Conducts Worker’s Compensation loss review with Plant controller.
• Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary.
• Reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an advance level

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety Health Manager (CSHM) preferred.
• CES (certified environmental specialist), CEP (certified environmental professional), or CHMM (certified hazardous materials manager).
• Certified Storm Water Operator
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data.
• Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures in a clear, concise manner and effectively present safety data.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
