About The Role
WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to join our team in Duluth, GA. The primary function of this role is to ensure the effective support of environmental, health, safety, and security initiatives within operations. The EH&S Manager champions these initiatives to ensure compliance with related requirements and implements best practices. They work independently and collaboratively on environmental and safety projects, conducting field observations, inspections, and providing guidance to ensure safe work practices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review and improve existing EH&S policies, procedures, and safety practices based on current standards.
- Implement and maintain safety initiatives to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a safety culture through regular meetings, feedback, and safety suggestions across all levels of staff.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training on various EH&S topics.
- Manage third-party safety consultants to optimize service delivery.
- Support all departments in implementing EH&S actions from inspections, audits, and project improvements.
- Conduct hazard analyses for jobs and equipment, preparing necessary documentation and safety measures.
- Perform periodic safety audits and inspections, identifying hazards and violations, and following up on corrective actions.
- Lead investigations into work-related injuries, illnesses, accidents, and near misses.
- Monitor and report on safety performance indicators and audit findings.
- Assist site leaders in responding to OSHA and environmental agency inquiries, excluding workers' compensation issues.
- Maintain the EH&S schedule, including drills, training, and emergency response plan updates.
- Conduct safety orientation sessions for new and transferred employees in collaboration with HR.
- Oversee the maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) files.
- Manage environmental permits related to air, water, stormwater, and waste, ensuring compliance through inspections and monitoring.
Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations; occupational health and safety certification required.
- Understanding of industry standards and relevant environmental requirements.
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are a plus.
Experience
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in safety, health, or ergonomics within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with safety inspections, problem-solving, corrective actions, and activity monitoring and reporting.
