Job Responsibilities
- Conduct safety and compliance training to educate employees on job site safety, health hazards, and hazard reduction methods.
- Coordinate new employee orientation and ongoing safety training for existing staff.
- Oversee function-specific training for various tasks.
- Conduct periodic inspections and audits regarding housekeeping, equipment condition, environmental concerns, and safety compliance at locations.
- Develop and monitor corrective actions for audit findings.
- Maintain and review the risk management system to produce safety records and documentation in accordance with regulations.
- Communicate with management, safety staff, and employees about updates in safety regulations and programs.
- Participate in monthly safety committee meetings, utilizing the Minutes and Agenda system.
- Lead initiatives to improve safety, environmental, and compliance processes and procedures.
- Assist management with facility improvement projects, including researching requirements and evaluating safety and compliance issues.
- Foster relationships with local regulatory agencies, providing compliance information and responding to concerns.
- Address environmental, safety, and health issues identified by auditors, insurance, or internal reviews.
- Refer issues related to capital expenditures, employee discipline, and operational changes to management.
- Visit job sites to review safety records and compliance with safety policies.
- Maintain required documentation such as OSHA 300 logs.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations.
Requirements
- 3+ years proven experience as a Safety Manager.
- PG&E experience.
- Civil/underground utility experience.
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
