Job summary

GOTAFE in Wilmington, NC seeks a summer intern to support EHS activities and facility updates. You will review drawings, maps, and routes; assist with compliance tasks and training material updates; and collaborate with the EHS team to reflect current policies and best practices on the production floor.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s program with a 3.0+ GPA, available for 12 weeks in summer 2027, and authorized to work in the United States. AutoCAD skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with anticipated graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2029.
• GPA at least 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks in summer 2027.
• Must have reliable transportation to the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred majors include OESH, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD skills may be helpful.
• Good written and verbal communication; comfortable on the production floor.

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

• Review and update facility line drawings, fire extinguisher maps, evacuation routes, severe weather maps, and emergency equipment locations.
• Assist with environmental compliance activities, including chemical inventories, waste inspections, spill-prevention readiness, stormwater reviews, and recordkeeping.
• Collaborate with EHS team members to ensure training materials reflect current policies, procedures, and best practices.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising junior or rising senior).
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred majors include OESH, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD skills may be helpful.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable spending time on the production floor and engaging with plant operations.
