Job summary

James Hardie in Wilmington, NC invites a Summer EHS Intern to join the site safety and environmental program. You will gain hands-on experience reviewing drawings, assisting with compliance, and supporting incident prevention on the production floor.

This 12-week full-time internship emphasizes mentorship, real projects with business impact, and exposure to industry best practices. Strong academics and US work authorization are required; AutoCAD skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with anticipated graduation between December 2027 and May 2029.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Your Role

• Assist with environmental compliance activities, including chemical inventories, waste inspections, spill-prevention readiness, stormwater reviews, and recordkeeping.
• Collaborate with EHS team members to ensure training materials reflect current policies, procedures, and best practices.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising junior or rising senior).
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred majors include OESH, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD skills may be helpful.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable spending time on the production floor and engaging with plant operations.
